Rhett's
Ride
Christopher Matthews of Westwood, New Jersey, is planning
ahead. His son, Rhett is only 2-years-old now, but
on day he'll receive one of the nicest coming-of-age
presents imaginable: an old style Bodder lovingly
created by his father.
Everything
about the bike was done in consideration of young
Rhett. For example, almost all the parts on the bike
are chrome so Rhett, the teenager, won't have to worry
about scratching everything up while learning to ride.
Also, the bike has some nice safety feature: the Klaxon
horn will forcefully warn everyone to stay the hell
out of the way, and the bike is os stylish that everyone
will see it coming.
Christopher
has been planning this beautiful heirloom for some
time. "I had it in my shop for quite a while,
and on the day of my son, Rhett, was in 2004, I took
the bike all apart. I had some ideas for it, and as
it happens, I had some parts that would fit. I built
a mock-up of it, and the next day I rode it. It came
together very quickly.
:"The
front forks are genuine Harley circa. 1937-1948. I
lengthened it four inches, and that was enough. I
didn't rake the frame or anything like that because
I didn't want my boy's first bike to be too radical.
The only things that aren't Harley parts are the Triumph
rear fender, the Klaxon horn, and the acetylene light."
Christopher
is proud of this little jewel of a bike that sparkles
from every angle. And someday, Rhett will be equally
proud of this family treasure.
From
father to son.
